Sony Ericsson Idou has 12-megapixel camera

Mobile World Congress at Barcelona, Spain kicked off today with a press conference from Sony Ericsson about a slick new gadget. Some were expecting a new Walkman phone, others were thinking it’d be a new CyberShot, but Sony Ericsson decided to make both sides of the camp happy by combining both into the IDOU. I’m really not the biggest fan of camera phones – I think a gadget should be just one or the other – but the Idou looks pretty intriguing. It’s a Sony Ericsson Walkman phone with a 12.3 megapixel digital camera and Xenon flash. With a 3.5″ 16:9 touchscreen display, this phone is great for flipping through photos and watching videos. You can also use DLNA to connect it to other devices like the PSP, PS3, and PC for data transfer. The Idou is apparently just a code name for now, and it will be released during the second quarter of 2009.
