There are many cameraphones that sacrifice the camera’s functionality and photo quality for the other features of the mobile phone. But the LG Viewty seems to be made out of stronger stuff, camera-wise. The mobile phone with a 3-inch touch screen display is also equipped with a Schneider Kreuznach 5-megapixel camera, a xenon flash, auto-focus and image stabilization features, and the ability to record videos at 120fps. With features like this, the LG Viewty might as well be a point-and-shoot camera that also functions as a mobile phone, instead of the other way around! And since its release into the market, LG has sold over 5 million Viewty’s worldwide.
If the LG Viewty is a sure win, then I wonder what kind of serious camera features its successor will have. The soon-to-be-released LG Renoir has an 8-megapixel camera, but no news on what other features it will have. I’m hoping that the LG Renoir will be one of the featured products in CES 2009!
