Nokia Delivers Relief Goods to Typhoon Victims

Nokia definitely stayed true to their word when they said they’d donate relief goods to typhoon victims. The company delivered over P10M worth of medicines and relief goods through the Philippine National Red Cross and the ABS-CBN Foundation SAGIP Kapamilya. The Nokia employee volunteering scheme Nokia Helping Hands also organized local Nokia staff to help distribute relief packs to 3,000 families based in Barangay San Antonio, Binan, Laguna. Each relief pack includes food, water, a blanket, and soap.

Nokia also understands that effective communication is necessary in the relief and reconstruction effort. This is why their donations include old mobile phones and why they set up free call and text centers powered by Globe, Smart, and PLDT in several evacuation and relief centers. They’re also helping with the repairs of mobile networks damaged by the typhoons. Since September 26, Nokia Siemens Networks have been working double-time to make sure that communication services in the Philippines were restored as fast as possible.
