Every year, Gfk Asia presents the No 1 Awards to best-selling consumer electronic brands within the Asia Pacific Region, including Australia and New Zealand. Sony Philippines’ camcorders recently bagged the top prize in the categories of Consumer Electronics, Home Appliances, Information Technology, Photo, and Telecommunications. The award was based on Gfk’s retail audit for 2009, which indicates that Sony was able to capture the increasingly competitive consumer market. Despite the proliferation of inexpensive camcorders, Sony continues to be the top-of-mind camcorder brand for three consecutive years.
According to GfK Country General Manager Jake Savellano, “As the leading research house in retail technology, we have seen that companies must stay one step ahead of the sophisticated Generation Y consumers, who have higher expectations and are very demanding. Manufacturers must meet these requirements and offer more.
