Playlist DJ for Nokia S60 5th Edition Xpress Music Phones

playlist dj

If you use your Nokia XpressMusic phone as your main music player, you’re in for a real treat. A free application called Playlist DJ is going to change the way you rock out on your mobile device. Playlist DJ uses profiling techniques that identifies the variables in every music track on your phone in order to bring you a customized playlist of songs that fit your mood. All you have to do is tweak the four colorful sliders that indicate a mood – Joy, Passion, Anger, and Tempo – to get the playlist you want. For instance, if you crank up the Joy and Tempo sliders, you’ll get a lot of really happy, upbeat pop tunes. But lower the Joy slider and crank up Passion and Anger, and Playlist DJ will play up-tempo tunes that are a little bit angry and a little bit emotional. Playlist DJ can detect which songs are best for which mood because of it’s high-tech deep-profiling process, which is made up of 34 features including 15 musical genres and 6 basic moods. The application also classifies songs according to vocal characteristics and instruments used.

Check out the cut for a video that explains exactly how Playlist DJ works. Or get it for free at the Ovi Store and fiddle with the settings yourself! The free Playlist DJ app will only be available until October 31, 2009 so you better download it now while you still can.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Phone Review

Techie Gadgets has been talking abut the new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Phone from it’s pre-order until the release and last week, we got to play with a test model for three weeks! The Nokia 5800 is the Finnish manufacturer’s first foray into an all-touchscreen mobile phone, which will inevitably bring up comparisons to other touchscreen phones like the iPhone, LG Secret, and HTC Touch Diamond. But having had no hands-on experience with the other touchscreen phones beyond the iPhone, this review will be more about the things I like and don’t like about the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone than a comparison to other similar mobile phones.

Design and Hardware

The handset is simple, unassuming, and feels sturdy in the hand. The phone also comes with a stylus, which I had a hard time trying to dislodge at first. Once you do get it out though, using the phone becomes a lot easier.

The controls are conveniently located in areas where you’d expect to find them on a Nokia phone. To the right is a camera button, a slider for unlocking and locking the phone, and a volume rocker; at the top is the 3.5mm headphone jack, micro-USB port, the charger port, and power button; to the left are the covered slots for the SIM card and microSD card.

Globe Duo Plan: Mobile and Landline in One SIM Card

Via Abe Olandres, here is breaking news from Globe.

Globe Telecom has launched a new cellphone-and-landline-in-one service called the Plan Duo Subscription. This service allows Globe subscribers to carry two numbers in a single SIM card — 1 mobile and 1 landline. It is available only in Metro Manila and Cebu but the latter will be activated only on April 15.

I finally got my landline number after trying to register since 12:18 AM. In fact I tested it using my PLDT Landline then Abe Olandres called me through his DUO landline number. Clear reception so far.

Here are the series of text messages I got
(Click on the photos to enlarge)

1. I typed duo and sent it to 8888

It was buggy and kept saying that I used an incorrect keyword. I sent duo 4 more times until I got this second message.
