Samsung Galaxy S III launch in the Philippines at SRP of 32,990 pesos

I always get excited with new product launches. Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy S III. today. They claim that it is a phone that understands you, waits till you fall asleep, sees your best side, lets you do two things at once, and shares what’s in your heart.

The Philippine launch was filled with celebrities that night. But I was more interested in checking out the units as soon as the curtain was unveiled.

Watch the launch video:

As soon as the curtain was lifted to show the units, we all rushed to check the features of the phone.

Designed for humans and inspired by nature, the GALAXY S III has redefined the meaning of Smartphone, showing that technology can fit naturally into one’s everyday lifestyle.

Here are some of the nifty features:

Case in point: when your alarm goes off but you need that extra five minutes of sleep, the phone’s personalized S Voice feature enables you to tell the GALAXY S III to “snooze.” The advanced natural language user interface listens and responds to your words, thus endowing the phone with powerful functions with regard to device control and commands. The S Voice feature can also be used to play your favorite songs, send text messages, organize your schedules, browse the web or automatically launch an application.

In addition to recognizing your voice, the GALAXY S III understands your motions to offer maximized usability. If you are messaging someone but decided to call them instead, just lift your phone to your ear and ‘Direct call’ will dial their number automatically—it is intuition at its finest.

It waits till you fall asleep

With the innovative ‘Smart stay’ feature, the GALAXY S III recognizes how you are using your phone – reading an e-book or browsing the web for instance – by having the front camera identify your eyes; the phone maintains a bright display for continued viewing pleasure. And when you start dozing off, as soon as the phone detects that you have closed your eyes, seconds later the phone also goes into its idle mode.

What’s the use of having a good thing if you can’t share it? More than a personal device that can be enjoyed by the user, the Galaxy S3 encourages you to share and experience the benefits of the phone with family and friends, regardless of where you are.

With the new ‘S Beam,’ the GALAXY S III expands upon Android™ Beam™, allowing a 1GB video file to be shared within three minutes and a 10MB audio file within two seconds by simply putting two GALAXY S III phones back to back, even without a Wi-Fi or cellular signal.

‘AllShare Play’ can be also used to instantly share any forms of files between GALAXY S III and your tablet, PC, and television regardless of the distance between the devices.

It lets you do two things at once

‘Pop up play’ allows you to play a video anywhere on your screen while simultaneously running other tasks, eliminating the need to close and restart videos when checking new emails, surfing the Web, texting, and chatting with friends. Plus, with a 4.8” HD Super AMOLED display, the GALAXY S III offers a large and vivid viewing experience in HD.

It sees you best side

Its 8MP camera features a zero-lag shutter speed that lets you capture moving objects easily without delay – the image you see is the picture you take. The ‘Burst shot’ function instantly captures twenty continuous shots (3.3 frames per second), and goes a step further by selecting the best of eight photographs for you when you recreate the best photo feature.

Every move you have, the GALAXY S III always has one better. Its trademark features are ‘user friendly’ going beyond and fulfilling your needs by thinking as you think and acting as you act.

Designed for humans

The GALAXY S III not only presents features with enhanced usability, but also provides an ergonomic and comfortable experience through its human-centric design. Its comfortable grip, gentle curves, and organic form deliver a rich human-centric feel and design.

Inspired by nature, its design concept is the flow and movement of nature. The elements of wind, water and light are all evoked in the physical construct of the GALAXY S III. In its essence, the minimal organic design identity is reflected in the smooth and non-linear lines of the device. Available in Pebble Blue and Marble White at launch.

The Galaxy S3 features are really exciting. I just feel strange holding such a light phone. The Samsung S2 feels slightly heavier than the S3. I don’t know if I should get the S3 though since I am still happy with my Samsung Note. See Carlo Ople’s hands on of Samsung Galaxy S3
