The Beatles on Rock Band Come September

Two more signs that the Beatles are going to be around for a very long time: they are now a legitimate object of study in the academe (Liverpool Hope University now offers an MA degree in The Beatles) and there will be a The Beatles: Rock Band music game for the PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 come September 9, 2009. This is the first time Apple Corps (the other Apple company), together with Harrisongs Ltd, EMI Music, and Sony/ATV Music Publishing agreed to include the Beatles in a video game. Now Beatles fans can big up a guitar, mic, bass, and drums and live out the fantasy of playing Beatles music through the simulacra of video games. In addition to the standalone software, The Beatles: Rock Band is offering a limited edition hardware set made to look just like the instruments used by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison. The Beatles: rock Band Limited Edition Bundle for all three consoles will be selling for approximately $249.99. You can get the standalone guitars for $99, or the software for $59.99.
