The excitement of Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach (@PiaWurztbach) victory at the 2015 Miss Universe was once again felt when the Miss Universe got hosted in the Philippines. Hosted by none other than Steve Harvey (@IAmSteveHarvey), the 2016 Miss Universe coronation event was held at the SM Mall of Asia in the Philippines. Everyone was tuned in to Twitter to see what happened with #6thMissUniverse including myself. I don’t normally watch Miss Universe but I could not ignore the tweets.
From the contestants’ beautiful gowns to the unique national costumes; fans all over the world turned to Twitter to spark up the conversation. There were more than 34.6 million-related Tweets exchanged during the coronation event – the highest Tweet volume for an entertainment event during the live show.
But more than anything, it was Iris Mittenaere (@IrisMittenaereO) who was ultimately crowned as the#65thMissUniverse. This young beauty from France has been pursuing dentistry and loves to cook.
