iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Postpaid plans from Globe

queue in Globe iphone 6

I am such an iPhone fan but it does not mean I get a new phone every year. Globe is the first telecom to carry the iPhone and I took this opportunity since I get it a discounted rate if I am in a two year contract. This really works for me since I give my iphone away to family members. My husband and daughter have never bought a smartphone because of all my hand me downs.

Finally, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus arrived at midnight of November 14 and I witnessed the excitement of Globe users forming a queue outside the Globe Telecom.

Paper, Stories from Facebook is pretty useful (so far)

So much hype on Paper. My online friends were talking of Paper, the Facebook app a few days before Facebook turned 10 years old. I always want to try out new things online so I was eagerly looking forward to the day I could finally download it. I thought it is just for US residents but I found a way to download it from the app store for FREE! Take note though…that Paper will need an iOS 7-powered iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

paper stories from facebook

Thanks to this website, I found out that there is “an age-old method, iOS device users living outside of the United States can enjoy a refined, more elegant News Feed experience using this quick and simple method.”

Here’s the process: First, launch the App Store app and touch “View Apple ID.” Then enter your credentials, and find the virtual button that lets you switch around your country – hit “Change country or region,” and then switch to the United States.

Don’t get unnerved when the App Store asks for a payment method – just touch “None,” and you’ll be able to download any free iOS application in the U.S. App Store. Being a free app, Paper is then available to download and install on your iOS device.

I finally downloaded Paper. It first brought me to an animated video about the evolution of Paper.

It then guides you on the setup. So idiot-proof. “Your paper is made up of different sections where you will find stories about various themes and interests”.

paper app 1

Just click next…

“Take a spin through the other sections and drag up the ones you want in Paper”

paper app 2

Easy so far. I dragged my favorite topics like politics, technology and home. When I was satisfied I clicked “done”. Simple! I browsed through the sections and you will be delighted to “unfold beautifully designed article covers for news and stories from trusted sources.”

paper app 3

It guides you on how to read by swiping up a story. One uses “simple, natural movements to thumb through Paper uninterrupted.”

To share your own story swipe down the cover.

You will see a menu of things to do:

And of course, my first posting is “I just downloaded Paper for Facebook”.

I am ready to browse stories from my Facebook News Feed. It is beautiful and eye-candy.

I can’t seem to edit my post though but you can “craft your own stories and see exactly what your posts will look like before you share them.” One just has to take extra care in editing before posting.

Since it is new, I still can’t tell if I will use this app regularly. For now, it is new and I like playing with this stylish app.

Download the Facebook’s Paper in the U.S. App Store free of charge.

How do you like it?

Downloaded Jelly app, a fun question-and-answer style social network

There is a new app for social media launched by Twitter Cofounder Biz Stone. Quick, download it if you want to be an early adopter. The likelihood of success is high looking at how Twitter is such a big hit. I downloaded it today to get a feel of this new app.

jelly app

It is easy to install. You can either log in through twitter. Later Jelly asks you to add Facebook since it works best with multiple networks.

jelly 1

Jelly reminds me of Quora , a serious question and answer social networking site but the former looks like fun.

jelly

What do I think of Jelly? So far, I find the app fun and cool. Some questions makes you ponder on your stock knowledge. Other questions are easy and fun. Jelly allows you to help each other.

Using Jelly is kinda like using a conventional search engine in that you ask it stuff and it returns answers. But, that’s where the similarities end. Albert Einstein famously said, “Information is not knowledge.” Knowledge is the practical application of information from real human experience.

Jelly changes how we find answers because it uses pictures and people in our social networks. It turns out that getting answers from people is very different from retrieving information with algorithms. Also, it has the added benefit of being fun. Here are the three key features of Jelly.

Smart now offers iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display

LAUNCH OF ipad mini and ipad air at smart
Smart announced that iPad Air with Wi-Fi + Cellular and Ipad Mini with Retina display with Wi_fi + Cellular are now available. Is it time for me to retire the iPad 1? This latest news from Smart may speed my decision . The idea of a lighter tablet is tempting.

ipad Air

The iPad air is a 9.7 Retina display in a thinner and lighter design and weighs just one pound. It is 20% thinner and 28% lighter than the fourth generation iPad. With a narrower bezel, the borders of the iPad Air are dramatically thinner.

On the other hand, the iPad Mini with Retina display display brings all the pixels from the 9.7 inch iPad to its 7.0 inch screen.

ipad air plans

The iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display are available on Smart Bro’s iPad Plan 1499 (16GB) and iPad Plan 1699 (32 GB) which both come with 65 hours of LTE internet surfing every month and an Ant-Bill shock guarantee that ensures subscribers wouldn’t have to worry about excessive data charges on their monthly bills.

iPad Mini Plans
ipad mini

You need to pay a one-time fee of 1,000 pesos for the iPad Mini with Retina display or 5,000 pesos for the iPad Air upon application to get their hands on these latest tablets from Apple.

If I were made to choose, I prefer the iPad Mini so I can easily tuck it in my purse. The iPad air is already redundant since I carry a Macbook air and am quite happy with it.
